Stair Type

The pitch or steepness is limited to a maximum of 42 degrees for a private stair (a stairway used by one dwelling) and a maximum of 38 degrees for a common stair (a stairway used by two or more dwellings), there are variations to both types.

It is your responsibility to make sure you choose the correct type of stair for the pupose intended.

Private stairs (42°) :: rise max 220mm
Common stairs (38°) :: rise max 190mm
